Dear New Member,

Sincerest thanks for joining. Your participation is critical to the success of the working class in creating a wonderful future. We try to organize activities around our weekly newspaper, the People's Weekly World (www.pww.org). Please get a regular subscription. If possible, please arrange for a small bundle to help you in your work.We distribute the paper, sell subscriptions, raise money, write articles, take digital photos, and send information to the newspaper staff.

We also get as involved as we can in the progressive movements such as peace, civil rights, etc. CPUSA club meetings are our big chance to collaborate with one another and improve our abilities. If you are unable to participate in one of our Texas clubs and unable to start a new one, there are still a lot of things you can do.

Begin by sharing your views of the political situation where you are.

Love & solidarity
Jim Lane, PWW correspondent in Dallas

What Do Members Do?

www.cpusa.org has our constitution, which lists aspects of membership:

* Promote and strengthen the unity and leading role of the working class, and fight for the broadest possible unity of the working class and its allies in the course of fighting for their needs.

* Work collectively

* Plan activities and policies

* Carry out the plans set by majority

* Vote for leadership

* Strive to attend all club meetings

* Seek to win new members

* Read, circulate and help improve Party publications

* Evaluate one's own activity and the activities of leadership bodies

* Stand up for civil rights and civil liberties

* Belong to labor unions where possible. Help organize unions

* Register and vote in public elections

* Give full aid in the acquisition of United States citizenship to those of its members who, because of unjust and undemocratic laws and practices, are deprived of this right

* Pay dues and support party finances

Can't Join A Club Collective?

Big business is making good use of teleconferencers and virtual teams. A quick Yahoo search for "Virtual Teams in Business" yields over 930,000 references on the world wide web! Articles applaud the power of virtual teams of businesspersons who work together across vast distances. They use e-mail, shared web pages, and a lot of teleconferencing. Some claim that they are more effective than teams working physically together!

In Texas' vast space, we have a lot of good members who are just too far from the major cities to go to meetings. Such members can nontheless make valuable contributions toward fulfilling the great promise of CPUSA. Interested?

Feel A Need To Study?

All of us benefit from studying Marxism and the long history of class struggle. Even while we participate in today's problems, we can use the accumulated knowledge of the past. Please rummage around on www.pww.org, www.cpusa.org, and this Texas web site for frequently asked questions and guided study. Look through the links for other activities and history of previous actions.

Some of us are presently collaborating on more approaches to on-line Marxist education. Your ideas are welcome.
